Puff printed custom hoodies
Brands like White Fox have brought back the popularity of puff printed logos that were uber popular some 10-15 years ago. While it holds true that history repeats itself, the puff print is not exception. It has not managed to avoid inclusion in that old cliche.
What is puff printing?
A puff print is when the printed ink on a sweatshirt has a raised texture. It physically can be seen and felt as is the ink rises, or puffs, as the garment gets heated through the cure chamber of a screen printing dryer. Once the garment goes through the dryer curing the ink, it puffs up and is ready to go. It’s uniqueness is what makes it’s special. You can see thousands of hoodies on any given weekend bopping around town. They’ll all have a standard regular screen print on them. The puff print is a bit of a novelty as it’s just different, it’s unique, it’s in style right now. It adds a little pizazz to the printed design.
Given the make up of a puff print the only thing we would recommend you print it on is a hoodie. It’s too thick for a t-shirt, It would not feel good. It works best with a garment with some weight of at least 8 ounces. So a traditonal crewn neck sweatshirt or hoodie are perfect. The weight of the 8 ounce garment off sets the weight of the puff print. Puff printing custom hoodies is a way to get a unique product that is both trendy and eye catching.
The only down side if there is one, is puff printing custom hoodies works best with simplified designs. Historically just text works best. A fat font that has some surface to it that allows the puff to really happen. A busy design means the puff can just become a blob. Thing text does not let the puff ink do it’s magic. A thick robust font allows that puff additive to really rise.
The best part about puff printing custom hoodies is that the puff part is just an additive we add to the ink. So any ink color can become a puff ink. It has few limitations on what it can be mixed with. Generally straight forward inks work best. Mixing puff with inks like metallic of shimmer or glitter flake inks don’t really work because those inks already have additives in them to make them sparkle.
